Muscle Activation Technique Procedure
Step One:
Range of Motion exam used to locate muscular limitations that lead to compromised performance, joint instability and pain. These limitations indicate positional weakness and lack of neuromuscular communication.
Step Two:
Specific Muscle Testing based on the limitations in joint position found during the Range of Motion exam. The muscle is placed in a shortened, vulnerable position with force applied in a specific direction to uncover a weakness.
Step Three:
Once the instability or weakness in a specific muscle has been identified the neurological communication between the muscle and brain needs to be restored. Isometrics or precise muscle palpations are used to restore proper proprioceptive input to the muscle spindle to increase communication and strength.
Step Four:
Re-testing the previously weak muscle to make sure that the Range of Motion and strength have been restored.
